An Error Analysis about Students Understanding to Inflectional Morpheme. Undergraduate Thesis. English Education Study Program, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Muhammadiyah University of Luwuk. Supervisor Mrs. Yusniati N. Sabata and Co-Supervisor Mrs. Sitti Hardianti. - This research aims to analyze the understanding of 6th semester students of English Education at Universitas Muhammadiyah Luwuk towards the use of inflectional morphemes. This research used descriptive qualitative method. This research was conducted by collecting data through documents in the form of student worksheets on Recount Text. Data collection was also carried out by analyzing the results of student writing to determine the types of inflectional morphemes error made by students made by the students. The research data were 94 errors collected from student worksheets in the form of student writings on Recount Text. The results of data analysis showed that omission errors were the most frequent errors with 54 errors on the past tense aspect, followed by misformation errors made by 26 errors on the past tense aspect and past progressive, and addition errors by 14 errors on past tense and plurality aspect. This finding shows that students still have difficulty in distinguishing the past tense in English, where the use of the morpheme '-ed' is very important to be considered in writing Recount Text. In addition, students also still have difficulty in distinguishing regular verbs and irregular verbs. Some students placed inflectional morphemes on irregular verbs that should not require inflectional morphemes but rather a change in the form of the verb, resulting in formation errors in writing morphemes on verbs that should not need inflectional morphemes added.
