Analysis of the Seventh Grade Students' Interest in Learning English at SMP Negeri 4 Bulagi Utara. Undergraduate Thesis, English Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Muhammadiyah University of Luwuk Banggai. Supervised by: Hardianti and Yuliana Mangendre. The purpose of this research is to determine the level of interest of seventh grade students in learning English at SMP Neger 4 Bulagi Utara. This research is a qualitative research method. This research was conducted by collecting data through direct observation, namely asking seventh grade students' interest in learning English. Data collection was also carried out using a questionnaire in the form of statements which the researcher distributed to class VII students of SMP Negeri 4 Bulagi Utara, which the researcher used as the sample in this study, and the sample was taken according to the number of students, namely 19 people.
Apart from that, data collection was also carried out through interviews by asking questions to 5 seventh grade students and the English teacher regarding English language learning in the classroom. The level of student interest in learning English at SMP Negeri 4 Bulagi Utara, especially in grade seven, is still low so it needs attention and needs to be improved further. Based on the data, the factors that influence students' interest in learning English are attention, motivation, encouragement from teachers, parents, and friends, and inadequate school facilities. These factors must be met so that students are more interested in learning English to achieve what they want in the future.
