Increasing Students' Vocabulary by Using Total Physical Response Method of the First Grade Students at SMP Negeri I Kintom. English Education Study Program, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Muhammadiyah Luwuk University, supervisor Desriani Nggolaon,S.Pd., M.Pd. This research aims to know whether Total Physical Response can increase students' English vocabulary or not and to explain how Total Physical Response can increase students' English vocabulary of the first grade students in SMP Negeri 1 Kintom. The method of the research was quantitative method. This research used quasi-experimental design. The researcher took two classes as the samples, there were the experimental class and the control class. The procedures included pre-test, treatment and post-test. The treatment was only given to experimental class. It was Total Physical Response Method. The results of this research showed students' achievement on learning English vocabulary. The mean score of the experimental class was significantly increasing in pretest (48.28) to the posttest (78.04). From those scores, the difference of the mean score between the pretest and the posttest on the experimental class was 29.76. From the data analysis, it was found the t-counted 3.982 is greater than t-table 1.676. Thus, alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (HO) is rejected. It can be concluded that Total physical Response method can increase the students' vocabulary of the first grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Kintom.
