"Improving students' speaking skill by using short dialogue memorization techniques". English Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Muhammadiyah Luwuk University, under the guidance of Yuliana Mangendre and Desriani Nggolaon The purpose of this study is to find out whether the use of memorization improve the students speaking skill in SMA Neger 1 Balantak Selatan or not. The methode used in this research was experimental research in the design of quantitative method. The researcher used total sampling technique to take the 20 students of grade eleventh in SMA Negeri 1 Balantak Selatan. The main instrumen in this research was test which is devided into pre-test and post-test. By applying dialogue memorization in treatment, it is found that the score of pre-test 19,5 is improve to the post-test 35,9 Besides the result of calculation using significants degree of 0,05, t-counted is greater than t-table (18.426 > 1.729), which means that Ha is accepted while Ho is rejected. Or it can be said that the use of short dialog memorization improves the students' speaking skill at SMA Neger 1 Balantak Selatan.
