The purpose of this research is to determine whether the use of songs has an effect on the listening comprehension of students in grade VII SMP Neger 1 Bokan Kepulauan or not. The researcher applied a quasi-experimental design in two groups, namely the experimental class and the control class in this research. In collecting data, researcher used tests, namely pretest (before treatment) and posttest (after treatment). The sample was selected using non-random sampling. The number of samples was 28 students from two classes taken from the population of class VII students of SMP Neger 1 Bokan Kepulauan. The results of data analysis showed that students listening comprehension increased significantly. This is indicated by the average value of the pre-test is 29.28 and the post-test is 52.14. The result of the t-test value is 3.892 and the t-table value is 2.055. This means that the t-test value (3,892) is higher than the t-table value (2,055). This shows that Ha is accepted and HO is rejected. Therefore, the conclusion from the hypotheses that have been obtained, then the use of songs can be used effectively for students' listening comprehension at SMP Neger 1 Bokan Kepulauan.
