Difficulties In Teaching Reading At SMPN 2 Bunta
Difficulties in Teaching Reading at SMPN 2 Bunta. Undergraduate Thesis, English Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Muhammadiyah University of Luwuk. Supervised by: Abdul Rabbi Arrasul and Desriani Nggolaon. The aim of this study is to find difficulties in teaching reading at SMPN 2 Bunta. This research used the qualitative method. The subjects of this study were two English teachers. This research used the theory from Tandika and Kamburu (2018). Data from this study were obtained through interviews and observation checklists. The results of this research indicate that there were some difficulties in teaching reading at SMPN 2 Bunta. There were truant students, low family income, overcrowded classrooms, Inadequate teaching and learning materials, distance from school, and regular curricular changes. In addition, other difficulties were found that were not based on the theory used by the researcher, namely students do not focus, lack of students interest in reading, the influence of mother tongue, and the new teacher lack of experience. The conclusion of this research indicates that there were 6 difficulties in teaching reading that support the theory of Tandika and Kamburu (2018) and 4 difficulties in teaching reading which were findings and enrich the theory used.
