Improving Students Vocabulary mastery by Using Extensive Readingat SMP Muhammadiyah Luwuk. A Skripsi English Education Study program. Teacher Training and Faculty, Muhammadiyah Universityof Luwuk. Supervised byAbdulRabbi Arrasul, S.Pd.,M.Pd The objectives of this research was to find out whether there is improvement students vocabulary mastery by using Extensive reading in the ninth Grade at SMP Muhammadiyah luwuk or not. The researcher used pre- experimental research with one group pre-test and postest. In collecting data,researcher used test namely pretest(before treatment) and post-test (after treatment). The samples were chosen using purposive technique. The total number of samples consisted 22 students. The researcher concludes that the use of extensive reading strategy is effective in improvingstudents vocabulary masteryof the ninth grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah Luwuk and it was proved since the hypothesis was accepted. The researcher found the result of pretest is 55.86 and the result of post test is 83.59. From these result, the difference between pretest and post test of experimental class is 27.72 it means, it has improved. Furthermore, it is also proved by the result of t- counted 12.215 is higher than t-table 1.721.It reflects that the use of extensive reading can effectively improving students vocabulary mastery by using extensive reading, nineth grade students of SMP MuhammadiyahLuwuk.
