The Use of Snowball Throwing to Improve Students' Achievement in Writing Descriptive Text to the Seventh Graders in SMP Negeri 2 Luwuk Timur. English Education Department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Muhammadiya Luwuk University. Supervisor Siti Marhana Rullu, S.Pd.I, M.Pd The objective of the research is to improve the students writng skill descriptive text by using snowball throwing of seventh grade at SMP Neger 2 Luwuk Timur. The research answer two problems of research, (1) How is the students' ability in writing descriptive text before using snowball throwing at SMP Neger 2 Luwuk Timur in academic year 2019/2020? And (2)Is there significant improvement Students' ability in writing descriptive text after using snowball throwing at SMP Neger 2 Luwuk Timur in academic year 2019/2020 ? The research design was classroom ation research. It was conducted in two cycles. The technique of analyzing the data of this research was applied by quantitative and qualitative data. The quantitative data were taken from the students' test. The qualitative data were taken from the students' score observation sheet and documentation. There were three meetings during from the research, they were pre-test, post-test 1, and post-test II. The result of this research showed the mean score in the pre-test was 54.7 and there was 15.3% (2 students) who got score >66, the mean score in the cycle 1 test was 62.7, and there was 53.8 % (7 students ) who got score ≥ 66.77, the mean score in the cycle II test was 75.2, and there was 84.6 % (11 students) who got score ≥ 66, it indicated that the scores and the mean in second cycle were better then the first cycle. Based on observation sheet and documentation, the improvement showed that the students could be fun, active, entusiastic, brave, spirit, and the students could write descriptive text easily through the snowball throwing. It was found that teaching writing descriptive text thrugh snowball throwing could improve the students' ability in writing descriptive text.
