Teaching Simple Present Tense Using Student Team Achievement Division (Stad) At SMP Negeri 1 Luwuk. Hum. The purpose of this research is to know the students mastery of simple present tense using STAD method. The research design of this research uses quasi experimental. The population of this research was class VIII A and VIII B at SMP Negeri 1 Luwuk that consist of 56 students, and each class consist of 28 students. The instrument uses was test. The data were taken by giving pretest and posttest both of classes. The data is indicated that there was a significant difference between students pretest and posttest. The mean score of students' pretest and posttest class A and B was 1.67. Then, to find the significant difference between the pretest and posttest mean score the researcher compared the value of t-count is lower then the +-table. Degree of freedom of the t-table is 56-1 = 55, in apply 0,05 level of significance the value of t-table is 2.00404. in conclusion was using STAD method in teaching simple present tense not affect in influential on students' mastery in learning simple present tense.
