English Paraphrasing through Initial Stage Technique to Develop Writing Skill at the Eleventh Grade Students of MAN 1 Banggai. The objective of this research is to determine whether using Initial Stage Technique could develop writing skill at MAN 1 Banggai. The research applied quasi experimental research that required pre-test and post-test to both of groups. The research population were the eleventh grade students of MAN 1 Banggai. The samples of this research were XI Ipa 2 as experimental class that consisted of 36 pupils and XI Ipa 1 as control class that consisted of 36 pupils. In collecting the data, the researcher used test. The test was consisted a pre-test and post-test. The data were analysed statically. After analyzing, the result of the t-counted was 37.731, with degree of freedom 70 and the level of significance 0.05, the t-table is
1.666. This research using the level of significance 0.05 because it has moderate accuracy and the data was used are observational data in the environment related to social, human, etc. Therefore, the result of t-counted was higher than t-table. It means, the hypothesis of this research was acceptable. The result indicated that there was a significant effect in using Initial Stage Technique to develop writing skill at eleventh grade students of MAN 1 Banggai.
