The Use of Mind Mapping in Increasing Students' Vocabulary Mastery. Skripsi. English Education Study Program. Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Muhammadiyah University of Luwuk. Supervisor Abdul Rabbi Arrasul. S, Pd., M.Pd. The purpose of this research was to find out increasing of students' vocabulary mastery through mind mapping in SMPN 1 Tinangkung. This research applied a quasi-experimental which requires pre test and post test for two classes. The study population was students of class VIII SMPN 1 Tinangkung. The sample of this research is class A as an experimental class consisting of 30 students and class B as a control class consisting of 30 students. Researcher used test to collect data. The test given consists of pre test and post test. Data were analyzed statistically.
Based on research result, the post test average score of experimental class students after given mind mapping treatment was 85.23, while the control class without mind mapping treatment was 55.63. From the difference in the results of these scores, it can be seen that the application of mind mapping in experimental class actually can increasing students' vocabulary mastery. It is the post test scores of experiment class is higher control class. After analysis, the t-count result is 19.47 with 58 degrees of freedom, and a significance level of 0.05, the t-table is 1.671. Therefore, the result of t-count is higher than t-table. That is, this research hypothesis can be accepted. The results showed that there was found that mind mapping can increase students' vocabulary mastery through the treatment given.
