The results of the interviews are: (a) Implementation of retelling stories (b) Techniques used in learning, (c) Student difficulties during the learning process, (d) Student responses to the implementation of retelling stories, (e) Media used in the learning process. From the conclusion of the researcher, the teacher's way of carrying out retelling stories was appropriate, but students were less active in speaking and most of them still did not understand the vocabulary in speaking. In retelling the story, they still have many difficulties in communicating and cannot use vocabulary in the form of speech. So that SMP 1 Kintom is still low in learning to tell stories in speaking. Suggestions are based on the conclusions of the research results, students of SMP 1 Kintom must read a lot of books and vocabulary in order to enrich their speaking vocabulary, or can also watch English videos that can help students speak
