This study aims to obtain information about the implementation of online learning in teaching English at SMA Negeri 2 Lawuk. This study used a qualitative method. The informants consisted of 2 teachers and 9 students. The research data was obtained by conducting in-depth interviews with subject teachers and students. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of online learning at SMA Negeri 2 Luwuk is less effective. The online learning applications used are WhatsApp, google classtoom and zoom which is not very effective in their use due to the consideration of the teacher because the internet network is inadequate for some students. The results of implementing online learning that is less effective are; internet assess which sometimes sinks in and there is even no network at all in the area where students live, making it difficult for teachers to deliver material and understanding material from students which sometimes niakes them study independently. The opinion of teachers and students towards online learning is not optimally carried out at SMA Negeri 2 Luwuk and
makes ther prefer face-to-face learring. This study concludes that the implementation of online learning depends on how the teachers and schools are concerned about how students can keep up with learning with various limitations in this pandemic condition.
