An Analysis of the Phonological Error of the English Vowel Pronunciation in Korean Drama . Undergraduate Thesis. This study aims to analyze phonological errors in the pronunciation of English vowels by actors and actresses in Korean dramas. This research uses a qualitative approach as a research method. The subjects of this research are the 8 main characters in two Korean dramas entitled "Run On" and "Love Story in Harvard". In order to analyze the data, the researcher carried out observations, where in the observation the researcher acted as an observer to watch and hear how the English language was applied and the interactions of the characters. The researcher compared based on the transcription there are 12 vowels in monophthong, 8 in diphthong, and 5 in triphthong. In this case, the 8 main characters of the two Korean drama they made error vowel as many as 10 in monophthong /a/, /N/, /ol, /v/, /1/, /a:/, /a/, /al/, /e/, /3/. They made error vowels as many as 3 in diphthong, they are /er/, /ar/, /at/, and has none in triphthong. The kinds of error by expert, they are substitution errors, addition errors, and omission errors. The significance of this research is that World Englishes highlight the diversity of pronunciation across English varieties, and by analyzing pronunciation across World English, it is possible to contribute to the knowledge base of vowel production and perception in different contexts.
