6 Luwuk Timur. This research applies a qualitative method. Participants in this method are 1 English teacher at SMPN 6 Luwuk Timur. The data in this study were collected using interview techniques. Data were collected through voice recordings and data was transcribed to find expressions of the types of questions, reasons and effects of using the questioning strategy during classroom interactions by participants while teaching. The results of this study indicate that the teacher uses 2 questions, namely: knowledge questions and evaluation questions. The reason the teacher uses questions is to find out the knowledge and understanding of students. The effect of the teacher using the question strategy, namely the effect of the questioning strategy can be seen from the student's response, there are some students who respond to questions so that the class atmosphere is more alive with the interaction between teacher and students.
