This study aims to see whether there is a significant improvement of the eight grade students' speaking skill of SMPN 1 Kintom through CLT or not. The researcher conducted quantitative research were the research design was experimental. This research population was the second grade students at SMPN I Kintom which consists of 3 parallel classes. Class VIllA, Class VIlle, and Class VIlIc. The sample of this study were selected by using purposive sampling. Class VIlle was group as the experimental class while class VIllc as the control class. The main data collection technique Pretest the researcher gave pretest to both experimental and control classes before the treatment, posttest the researcher gave posttest to measure the improvement of students'. The calculation result shows that t-counted (7,106) is higher than the t-table (1,671). The alternative hypothesis (Ha) and the null hypothesis (Ho) is refused. Therefore, it can be said that applying the CLT method can significantly improve students' speaking skill of the second grade at SMPN 1 Kintom.
