The Use of Videos to Improve Speaking Ability of the Eighth Grade Students of SMP Negeri 4 Luwuk. Undergraduate Thesis. English Education Study Program Teacher Training and Education Faculty. The purpose of this research was to find out the use of videos effectively in improving the speaking ability of the eighth grade students of SMP Neger 4 Luwuk or not. In this research, the researcher applied a quasi-experimental design with two classes, namely the experimental class and the control class. In collecting data, researcher used tests, namely pre-test and post-test. The sample was selected by random sampling technique. The number of samples was 50 from two classes taken from the population of class VIII students of SMP Neger 4 Luwuk. The results of data analysis showed that the mean score of the pre-test was 46.8 and the post-test was 77.6. The result showed that t-counted value was 3.882 and the t-table is 1.677. It means that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. Therefore, the conclusion from the hypotheses that have been obtained is the use of video can improve the speaking ability of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 4 Luwak.
