Students' Understanding in Derivational Affixes. Undergraduate Thesis. English Education Study Department, Faculty of Teacher Training Education, Muhammadiyah Luwuk University. Supervised by Yusni and Mukmin. This research aims to find out about students understanding of derivational affixes. This research used a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were sixth-semester English Education students. This research is based on the theory from (Fasold & Linton (2014) to find out how students understanding in derivational affixes, especially in noun and adjective word formations. In the context of analyzing the data, the researcher used students' worksheets, which in deciding the researcher focused on how students' categorized derivational affixes that formed noun and adjective word formations. As a result of this research, the researcher found that the sixth-semester students have a lack of understanding in the word formation process using derivational affixes. The students more understand in categorizing the affixes and less understand in categorizing the class of word-formations.
