Undergraduate Thesis, English Education Study Program, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Muhammadiyah Luwuk University. Under the guidance of Desriani Nggolaon and Abdul Rabbi Arrasul. Reading comprehension is an important skill used to understand the text we read and construct meaning from it. Narrative text is a story that has a complication of problems and this text tells about something interesting to entertain its readers. Comics are works of art that use a series of images and are combined with some text with the aim of giving pleasure to the readers, because comics contain elements of short stories, characters, dialog, conflict, and climax. The purpose of this study is to determine whether comic books can improve students' reading comprehension of narrative text at SMK Neger 2 Taliabu. The sample in this study was class X of SMK Neger 2 Taliabu Barat which amounted to 16 students.
The data collection technique was carried out by conducting a pre-test on the first meeting, then conducting treatment on the second to seventh meeting and finally the post-test on the eighth meeting. The results of this study are the percentage value in the pre-test of 19.12 and the percentage value in the post-test of 56.77. This shows a change in students' reading comprehension of narrative text, where after the application of the use of comic books, students' scores have increased. This is in line with the hypothesis test conducted where counted = 5.39 > table = 2.11 so it is concluded that there is an effect of using comic book media on students' reading comprehension of narrative text.
