Students Phonetic Transcriptions at Muhammadiyah University of Luwuk. Undergraduate Thesis. English Education Program Study Department, Faculty of Teacher Training Education, Muhammadiyah Luwuk University. Supervisor Yusniati N. Sabata, S,S., M.Hum. and Co-Suvervisor Mukmin, S.Pd., M.Pd. The objectives of this research was to know how the students writing phonetic transcriptions. The researcher used a qualitative research design. The subject of this research were students of the fifth semester of English Education Study Program. The subject took using purpose sampling. It based on the consideration which they learned phonetic transcription is phonology. Data were collected through the test. The findings of this research, there are twelve phonetic transcription according to IPA they are e, 2, 1, 0, 0, 3, 1, 1., 3., o:, u:, a.. From the students data, they are more understanding in phonetic. o, 2, 0, a, 1. Although, the students less understanding in phonetic 3., u, I, p. English student should learn the function of transcribing the word so they can be appropriately to increase knowlagde about phonetic. To explore the differences speech the word.
