The Use of Spelling Bee Game to Encourage Students' Vocabulary. Skripsi, English Education Study Program, Teacher Training and Education Faculty. Muhammadiyah University of Luwuk. Under the supervition of Yuliana Mangendre, S.Pd., M.Pd The aims of this research are to find out whether by using spelling bee game can encourage vocabulary and to explain students' vocabulary after using spelling bee game at seventh grade student of SMPN 3 Pagimana. This research used quasi-experimental design with non-equivalent control group design. The population of this research was all students of SMPN 3 Pagimana wich consist of 133 students, while the sample the researcher took seventh grade student which devided into two class, class A and class B, Class A became experimental class and B as a controlled class. The researcher used test as the instrument to get the data which was given at pretest and posttest. The mean score of pretest in experimental class was 34.54 while for the control class was 35.68. The mean score of posttest in experimental class was 62.27 while for the control class was 37.72. And the last computation of this reserach shows that the t-counted was 17.076 was higher than-table 1.681 with degree of freedom 42 and the level of significant 0.05. It means that Ho rejected and Ha accepted. It indicates that the spelling bee game can encourage the students' vocabulary.
