Analysis of Errors in Writing Comments on Social Media. Undergraduate Thesis. English Education Study Department, Faculty of Teacher Training Education, Muhammadiyah Luwuk University. Supervised by Desriani and Hardianti. This research target is to investigate the types of errors that people have written on the BBC Learning English Instagram account. The research used qualitative as the method. The subjects of this research were Instagram users who commented on social media on the BBC Learning English Instagram account. In the context of analyzing the data, the researcher did documentation for identifying the error. As a result of this research, the researcher found that there are four types of error: omission, addition, misformation, and misordering. The researcher found new findings: misspelling and capitalization. The study aims to analyze common English writing errors on Instagram, offering both theoretical and practical benefits.
Researcher hope this study can help students identify and correct trivial mistakes, preventing misinformation and misunderstandings in social media, teachers can use it to design interventions for improving online writing skills, while researcher can reference the findings for further studies on language use in digital contexts, contributing to linguistics.
