This research was carried out based on preliminary research by researchers showing that many students are experiencing difficulties speaking. At SMPN 1 Bulagi Utara, students' speaking ability scores are quite low so it is considered that students' speaking skills are below the minimum completeness criteria. This research aims to test whether students' speaking skills can be improved by using the snowball-throwing technique. This research methodology is a quasi-experimental design with six meetings, 2 x 40 minutes each. The research population was class VIII students at SMPN 1 Bulagi Utara. The number of samples taken was 42 students from two classes, namely class VIII A and VIII B. The researcher used an oral test to measure the score of increasing students' speaking skills, namely pre-test and post-test. Statistical data analysis. The results of this research produced at count of 17,702 with 40 degrees of freedom and a significance level of 2,021. The t-count results are higher than the t-table. Therefore the research hypothesis can be accepted. The results of this research show that the use of snowball-throwing techniques is an important factor in helping students improve their speaking skills.
