The Effectiveness of Role Play Strategy in Improving Students' Speaking Skill of Seventh Grade at SMPN 3 Luwuk. Skripsi, English Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. Universitas Muhammadiyah Luwuk. Supervisor Mukmin, S.Pd., M.Pd The objective of the research is to find out the effectiveness of role play in improving students speaking skill at SMPN 3 Luwuk. The research applied quasi experimental research that required pre-test and post-test to both of groups. The research population was the seventh grade students of SMP Neger 3 Luwuk. The samples of this research were 40 students. The experimental class that consisted of 20 students and 20 students as control class. In collecting the data, the researcher used test. The test was consisted a pre-test and post-test. The data were analysed statically. After analysing, the result of the t-counted was 12.759, with degree of freedom (df) 38 and the level of significance 0.05, the t-table is 2.024. This research using the level of significance 0.05. Therefore, the result of t-counted was higher than t-table. It means, the hypothesis of this research was acceptable. The result indicated that there was a significant effect in using Role Play Strategy to improve students' speaking skill at seventh grade of SM Negeri 3 Luwuk.
