Error Analysis of Subject Verb Agreement in Writing News Item Text. Skripsi. The purpose of this study was to describe the types of error analysis of subject-verb agreement in writing news item text and to describe the factor caused subject-verb agreement errors in writing news item text. In data collecting technique, the researcher used a written test. After that the test were collected. Then the researcher selected students writing and analyzed the error of subject-verb agreement and the factors caused. The researcher used the following procedure to in obtaining the data; collecting sample, identifying, underlining, analyzing, and evaluating the errors. The result of this research show tht there were four types of subject-verb agreement made by the students of the tenth grade MIPA 3 at SMAN 2 Luwuk. They are omission, addition, misformation, and miordering. The data also show various errors presentage of each type of error. From 19 active students, 53 % did omission, 37% did addition, 26 % did misformation, and 16 % did misordering. While the main problems which caused the errors were students only focused on translating word per word when generating news item text and students did not get proper knowledge of grammar and how to construct sentence occurately in conclusion, students need more practice and axercise to compose writing with good grammar.
