Students' Perception on Using Instagram In Learning Academic English Vocabulary In English Education Study Program at Muhammadiyah Luwuk University. Skripsi of English Language Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Muhammadiyah University of Luwuk. Supervised by Yuliana Mangendre and Desriani Nggolaon. This research aims to explore the perceptions of students in the English Education Study Program at Muhammadiyah Luwuk University regarding the use of Instagram as a medium for learning academic English vocabulary. A qualitative descriptive method was employed, with data collected through non-participatory observation and semi-structured interviews involving 19 students from semesters 2, 4, 6, and 8, selected using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using content analysis and categorized into three perception types based on Rakhmat's (2012) theory: positive, neutral, and negative. The findings reveal that the majority of students have a positive perception, considering Instagram an enjoyable, flexible, and visually engaging platform that supports vocabulary retention and motivation to learn. Some students expressed neutral perceptions, viewing Instagram mainly as a supplomentary tool whose effectiveness depends on individual motivation and learning context. A small number expressed negative perceptions, citing distractions from non-academic content and the superficial nature of vocabulary materials. The study concludes that Instagram has great potential as a supporting medium for academic vocabulary learning if used selectively, guided by credible sources, and integrated with formal learning activities.
