Students' Preference For English Songs AS Listening Learning Media
Students' Preference for English Songs as Listening Learning Media. Undergraduate Thesis, English Education Study Program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Muhammadiyah Luwuk. Supervised by: ST Marhana Rullu and Mukmin. English songs are considered interesting, easily accessible, and in accordance with the learning style of students, especially in listening learning. This study aims to determine the preferences of English Education students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Luwuk towards the use of songs as learning media. Through a qualitative approach in depth study by conducting interviews with 16 participants from the 6th semester of English Education, four factors were found to influence preferences, namely personal interest or intrinsic interest in English songs, ease of understanding in terms of lyrics and pronunciation of songs helping in understanding vocabulary and pronunciation, suitability of learning styles, especially auditory, and a flexible learning environment. Songs are considered as fun media in improving listening skills. Teachers are advised to integrate songs in a structured way, and further research is recommended to explore the use of songs for other language skills with a mixed methods approach.
